Opal

The unique colour-play which dances on the surface of precious opal owes its vibrancy to its unusual crystalline structure, microscopic spheres stacked together breaking up, reflecting and bouncing light into its spectral colours. The darker the ‘body’ colour and the richer the colour-play will determine the value of the opal, rare black opals with orange and red flashes from the Lightning Ridge area of Australia, sitting at the top of the desirability scale.
