Sapphire

Sapphire, sister of ruby in the corundum family is most well known as a blue coloured precious gem, although they can be found in almost every colour. The finest examples display a rich velvety cornflower blue. Yellow, orange and peacock green varieties of sapphire are popular as is the rare pinky-orange padparadcha or ‘lotus blossom’ sapphire. Hard and scratch resistant, sapphire makes an excellent choice for engagement and eternity rings, it is the birthstone for June and the 45th wedding anniversary.
