Sapphire

Sapphire, sister of ruby in the corundum family is most well known as a blue coloured precious gem, although they can be found in almost every colour. The finest examples display a rich velvety cornflower blue. Yellow, orange and peacock green varieties of sapphire are popular as is the rare pinky-orange padparadcha or ‘lotus blossom’ sapphire. Hard and scratch resistant, sapphire makes an excellent choice for engagement and eternity rings; it is the birthstone for June and the 45th wedding anniversary.
