General Terms & Conditions


Nothing in these conditions shall effect the statutory rights of the consumer. These conditions apply to all quotations, offers and conditions and all orders and contracts between Saunders & Pughe LTD (‘the company’) and the consumer (‘the customer’) to the exclusion of any items or conditions referred to by the customer, save that nothing in these terms and conditions shall effect the statutory rights of the consumer. No variations or amendments to this contract shall be binding on the company unless confirmed by the Company in writing.


We hope you are delighted with your Saunders & Pughe Goldsmiths purchase. If however you are not satisfied with your item then we would ask you to first contact the shop to discuss the issue. At Saunders & Pughe we strive to give the best possible service and we would prefer any customer to come and talk to us if they have any issue with a product or service from Saunders & Pughe we suggest booking an appointment with the shop manager should a problem arise.

Items purchased from our shop can be returned within 30 days of purchase for a credit or exchange, the item must be presented with the original receipt, in the original packaging and in pristine, unworn condition.

Due to reasons of hygiene, earrings for pierced ears are non-returnable

Items which are bespoke, made to special order, adapted or altered are non-returnable.

All of our jewellery is suitable for the purpose for which it is designed under fair wear and tear. Our liability will be limited to firstly repairing the item free of charge and if this is not possible, a replacement of the item of jewellery. Please be advised that we do not cover accidental damage, incidental damage, normal wear and tear, theft, accidental loss, or any damage that our manufacturing professionals deem is not due to craftsmanship related issues. If the piece has been altered in any way, our warranty no longer covers the item unless the alterations have been completed by Saunders & Pughe Any queries must be accompanied by proof of purchase from Saunders & Pughe.


We love to restore, repair and re-model old and broken jewellery, but as a small busy shop please bear in mind, our minimum repair charge is £30. Not all items can be repaired and all repair work can carry risks. Not all repairs can be guaranteed. We do not repair watches, silverware or costume jewellery. We can replace catches but we cannot mend delicate chains. Some repairs cost more than the original piece cost. Sometimes a repair can cost more than replacing the item with something similar. Some of our repairs are done in-house and some are sent to our repair specialist, we aim to get estimates where possible before, when requested. Items are booked in, photographed and then inspected in due course, we will aim to process most repairs within 3-4 weeks, but complex jobs can take more time. If an item is sent off to our repair specialist, to be assessed for repair, the customer will be responsible for the carriage and insurance charges, even if the repair is not carried out.

Using our repair service will ensure your jewellery is in safe hands and being cared for by our exceptional team of skilled craftsmen. Upon submission items are described with no assumptions made as to their physical nature or composition. For example “ Yellow metal ring set with one white stone”.The Company is not bound by any description which, after further investigations, proves to be different from that detailed upon submission. Remarks recorded during the take-in procedure in respect of the condition of the goods listed are usually only noted when there is OBVIOUS evidence of damage and/or repairs or when gemstones are obviously missing. On subsequent close examination, evidence of more obscure damage and/or repairs may become apparent and/or additional parts or gemstones may be discovered to be missing. The Company taking in the goods, their employees and/or consultant valuers/repair specialist/pearl stringer reserve the right to note these findings and notify the client accordingly. In any event no liability whatsoever on the part of the Company taking in the goods, their employees and/or consultant valuer/repair specialist/pearl stringer can be entertained for any omission and/or errors in this regard during the Take-in procedure. The company shall not be liable for the repair, replacement or resetting of any stone required as a result of carrying out our repair procedures, valuation, restring which may include cleaning according to standard industry practises. We guarantee all our re-stringing for 3 months if a strand should break within that period then Saunders & Pughe will re-string free of charge upon presentation of original receipt. The majority of website orders are despatched within 48 hours of receiving your order and payment. However, in some circumstances we may be out of stock of the item or component, in these cases we will give you an estimated delivery time when you place your order.


Due to the valuable nature of our products all deliveries require a signature and will be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service ensures each parcel can be insured up to £2500 and is tracked in transit. Due to hygiene reasons we do not accept pierced earrings back for exchange. We also do not allow customers to try on pierced fitting earrings in our shop.


Deposits of All special orders and commissions will require a 20% non-refundable deposit. All goods must be fully paid for before release within 1 year from date of order. Assuring you of our best attentions at all times and thank you for your custom.
